Our Story

In 2013 our founder Troy Albee was in a car accident and needed to purchased a used car. When trying to get a duplicate key, he quickly discovered how expensive modern keys were at the dealership. He also realized how difficult it was to find an alternative solution. Because of this, he envisioned starting a business and soon thereafter found a hardware store going out of business on the North Shore and bought all of their key equipment.

In 2017 Troy decided to partner with his friend and fellow locksmith Paul Troy to help expand the growing mobile service and complexities of technology.
With a growing team and a small fleet of mobile service vehicles, what began as small side business is now the leading automotive locksmith company in Southeast Massachusetts.
In 2020 the pandemic changed the landscape for many companies, presenting new challenges and even prompting some to close. In 2021, recognizing new needs in the market, we expanded to provide residential and commercial service. This also prompted a rebranding, as the name Affordable Auto Keys implies we only work on cars. Thus "South Shore Lock & Key" was born. We offer the same great products and service that so many have come to expect from Affordable Auto Keys but now with a wider scope and new look.
